The Journalism class is an introductory course in journalism. The course introduces students to the world of mass media, basic photojournalism, and explores journalistic writing.

Students will be introduced to the world of journalism through several class activities as well as group assignments. Students will learn about the media as well as the importance of the First Amendment and how it contributes to our democratic society. Among a wide range of skills, they will also learn how to use digital cameras and desktop publishing computer software, all part of generating complete print and online newspapers.

The course is open to both beginner and experienced writers.  Students will have the opportunity to take part in creating the school paper, The Pirate.
